How it began…

The inspiration for Mystic Skins Soulwear was born over a decade ago, when founding artist, Lisa Sorce, first began transforming her own personal items – jewelry, purses, footwear, coats and clothing into purposeful articles of adornment to assist her in living with more intention and awareness.  

Through the synthesis of her pragmatic clinical and art therapy training, her natural artistic inclinations and passion for archetypal psychology, and her years working with shamanic global healers and earth-honoring wisdom keepers, she developed an enigmatic method of creating intention-laden, mystical, wearable art. She noticed that whenever she wore one of her creations — in addition to her own sense of feeling more connected and present — she was invariably approached and asked about what she was wearing. People were noticing and this was surprising and significant.

It wasn’t until recently that Lisa was able to bring her intentional adornment practice and “art as a sacred act” into larger form.  She shared her vision with fellow artist, Danny Grosso — who had his own history in creating wearable, inspiring art — and in that moment, it began.

Lisa sought out pristine vintage, abandoned and forgotten leather coats, purses, and other interesting foundations to serve as the skins upon which encouragement and possibility would be crafted.  After months of fruitful gathering, the first Mystic Skins creations were brought into form when Lisa and Danny infused their own, unique, personal styles into the coats they crafted that day and in the months to follow.
